Butterfly is a enjoyable page turner. Geared towards early teens, the story will draw readers into the title character, Brooke's, struggle to overcome an injury that sidelined her dancing dreams, intrigue over a strange new neighbor and anxiety over her first crush. An entertaining mix of teen angst and fantasy. Without giving away the story, I was pleased with the positive way the main character embraces a shunned, slightly strange, elderly neighbor.Product details

I loved this book! Read the entire thing in one sitting because I couldn't stand not knowing what would happen next. Very creative! I hope this becomes a series. I think it would make a great movie as well.
When fifteen-year-old Brooke moves to a new village next to the weird, old lady, Crazy Carter or Cee Cee, everyone's talking about, Brooke knows to keep her distance while being polite, trying to blend in with everyone else. But something's happening. The old spinster keeps popping up in Brooke's dreams as Brooke's life starts to spiral out of control. Suddenly, there isn't just the strange dreams that keep sending Brooke a certain message; there's also the school throb, Blaze, she's had a crush on ever since he once defended her from a bully.
Even though she has no idea why, Brooke starts spending time with the old lady, and finds she isn't as crazy as everyone thinks. In fact, Cee Cee is quite clever and she has a big secret she soon shares with Brooke in order to teach her to become what she's supposed to be.
I thought Butterfly was a great read for teens, very well-written with a lovely heroine. Brooke has a strong voice and is very enticing, polite and loveable. I particularly liked the plot that focuses on magic and the paranormal with a great twist. The story drew me in from page one and was a page-turner. I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it to both teens and adults.
